Full Tilt

24 Feb

Last night, I funded $200 USD into my Full Tilt online poker.  I’ve been careless and dwindled down to $150.  When I’m pissed, I tend to play even bigger amounts with an aggressive manner.  I ventured into Rush Holdem $1/$2 no limit.  Boy, that’s a fast game.  Once you fold, you’re moved right away to another table for continuous play!  I played a few hands… mostly folding.  But I managed to get the hang of it and I made a few bucks back.  But the blinds were eating into my profits so I decided to go to the Rush Holdem $0.50/$1 no limit table thinking it won’t cost me as much.

I believe it was my first hand.  I got AK off-suit.  So I decided to raise it to $2.  The other guy wanted some action, so he raised me $6.  I’m like fine I call you.  The flop matched my King!  Yay, finally I catch a lucky break.  I can’t really remember what happened because it went by so quickly.  I ended up betting everything I had… my buy in was at $80. (usually I play micro no limit with buy ins of $7-10 max in which I did crappy on).  Anyways, the guy had pocket Jacks and was fishing.  He just didn’t want to give up…. last bet for me was $50 on the turn.  He ended up calling me… thanks buddy, you have reimbursed my loss plus adding  nice little profit of $30.

Basically, have no fear.  Even though, I got beaten numerous times.  I’m like I can’t have such bad luck, can I?  All it takes is one good sucker to lure in… just try not be one yourself!!

Pulling the Trigger

24 Feb

In my QT Margin account, I pulled the plug on Imperial Oil with a gain of $534.73 and Honeywell with a disappointing loss of $231.89.   Imperial Oil had a good run, but I felt the bullish run was about to come to an end.  Crude oil is trading at its highs… and I’m afraid it will come crashing down once the big boys are done with them.  Honeywell took a bad beating this week.  I had my chance of selling it at break even, but I wasn’t quick enough.

I’ve replaced both stocks with Potash and Cliff Natural Resources.  I could have bought them for cheaper if I had waited a little bit longer, but I was impatient.  My positions:  POT.TO 200 @ 56.65;  CLF 100 @ 92.00

Going Back to the Basics

18 Feb

Income Trusts have always given me a good return.  Time for me to re-enter and stay put this time.  That’s it, I’m done with my portfolio till I need to tweak it some more down the road.

QT TFSA- CHE.UN 200 @ $14.63 paying 10 cents per month
QT RSP- PGF 300 @ $12.34 paying 7 cents per month

Risky Business in my TFSA

16 Feb

In my QT TFSA, I added 5000 @ 0.57 cents into EPO.TO.  I’m going to give it five weeks for it to pop…

I hope my Honey is doing well!

11 Feb

The charts on Honeywell International  Inc. looks to be pointing upwards.  Spur of the moment, I decided to plunker down 100 shares @ 57.9899 to see if I can still hitch a ride before it runs out of steam.  ($2613.23 cash + $3390.71 margin)  I’ll be watching this pick closely.  I’m hoping for a quick rise in the price share and pocket the difference!

I’ll probably hold out for the dividend which is next Saturday!!   Read on:  The Board of Directors of Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.3025 per share on the company’s outstanding common stock. The dividend is payable on March 10, 2010 to shareowners of record at the close of business on February 19, 2010.  Eeeks, this is for last years dividend declaration!

New Life to my Portfolio

9 Feb

Recently, I sold off some stocks.  I have said bye bye to a couple of suckers and my bittersweet farewell to Agrium.  I was pondering what to buy.  Actually a lot of the stocks have gone up in the past month… at their year’s all time high.  This made it more difficult to step back into the ring.

Today’s purchases:
1)  Questrade Margin:  IMO. TO  100 @ $44.90 (10 cents/quarter)
This is more of a shorter term hold for price appreciation play.
2)  Questrade RRSP:  PPL.TO 200 @ $22.20 (13 cents/month)
This is more of a longer term hold for dividend play collecting $26.00 per month.

Sold Agrium Today

8 Feb

Agrium Story:  In my Itrade Margin account around June 2010, I made a daring move by purchasing Agrium solely on margin at 200 @ $52.45.  I quickly sold Agrium at a loss soon after at 200 @ $52.05, what a big mistake that was!  It was just a small little hiccup that scared me off.  I kept my eye on it, it climbed steadily and surely… after I sold out.  I was not happy.  But I decided to re-enter Agrium at 100 @ $71.65 in my Questrade Margin account.  The rest is history.  I could have made a whole lot more if I didn’t chicken out.

Bittersweet to let Agrium go at $92.60 for a profit of 29.11%.  It’s been good to me, but with the earnings report coming in the next two days… I don’t know how Agrium will hold up in the cut throat earning release.  I’ve been burnt a few times before such as RIM and Visa.  So this time around, I want to ensure my gain.

Update Feb 9th:  Well, I made another blunder.  Agrium is up $3.50 this morning.  Earnings were stellar.

COMMENT: I sold two stocks at a loss.  Some stocks have moved up, some stocks have moved down… but overall it averaged out to be the same as last month.

To do list for this month’s trading session:
1)  Time to revamp my Questrade RSP account.  I will invest $5408 into a high yielding dividend stock.  I’m thinking about Pembina Pipeline Corp @ $22.36/share paying out 13 cents per month.  But I have to research more carefully this time around.
2)  I’ll be maxing out my Questrade TFSA to $15,000.  Another pick has to be picked soon.
3)  I’m thinking of selling my losing penny stock in different accounts to free up some money.  The loss will be heartbreaking but I’m tired of holding onto a loser!!
4)  Either I sell of my Agrium in my Questrade Margin account or pay off the margin balance.

Bye Bye Suckers

4 Feb

Remember how I replaced Husky with these two suckers:

  • AP.UN (Bought 200 @ 21.93)-(Sold 200 @ 21.75) = CAPITAL LOSS $46.64
    *Collected Distribution of $22.00
  • CSH.UN (Bought 100 @ 8.37)-(Sold 100 @ 8.20) = CAPITAL LOSS $26.90
    *Collected Distribution of $4.50

I got tired of holding these two stocks.  Zero performance and I didn’t like their balance sheet as well.  Might as well stick it into something else.  If I had kept Husky, it would have went from $26.45 to $27.65!!  Possibly another $240 in profit instead of $73.54 in loss.  Anyways, I followed a newsletter subscription and it didn’t pay off.  Sometimes, I should just do my own thing!
